Holiday shopping looks a little different again this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Major retailers and malls will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 25. This includes the country’s largest shopping center operator Simon property, with three shopping centers in the Charlotte area.

Charlotte shoppers will find new stores in several malls. And some stores will continue to offer curbside pickup and in-store pickup for online orders that have helped consumers who feared shopping in crowds during last year’s pandemic.

Santa visits return to retailers on Saturday with a parade in Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops in Fort Mill, SC and Concord, respectively, according to the company’s website. Customers can make an online reservation from Sunday. Last year’s transparent protective barrier between Santa Claus and visitors is gone this year, but tours remain contactless and there is no sitting position, according to the company.
