9 Story Media Group has announced the appointment of Farrell Hall to the newly created role of Director of Inclusion. By working with internal and external stakeholders, Farrell will be empowered to create and execute diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives that will impact all aspects of the business, including the animation studio. by 9 Story, Brown Bag Films. He will also be an integral part of the development and establishment of DCI content guidelines to advance the company’s mission in creating and producing diverse and authentic stories. Reporting to 9 Story CEO and President Vince Commisso, Farrell joins the management team and is based in Toronto.
Most recently, Farrell served as Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the Children’s Aid Society (CAS) of Toronto, where he led a team responsible for promoting equity and combating oppression within the organization. While engaged with CAS, Farrell clearly focused on addressing anti-black racism in order to eliminate disparities and disproportion in the outcomes of their services for clients. Farrell also brings additional relevant experience from his time as a Workplace Equity Manager at the Peel District School Board, where he championed the development of workplace equity programs, to combat the oppression and inclusion, as well as established initiatives to ensure excellence in the workplace. Farrell has a solid background in human resources, working in the field for over twenty years in the not-for-profit, private and corporate sectors. In addition, Farrell spent three years working in radio at the Société Radio-Canada.
