The shopping scene in Aspen continues to heat up this season.
Gabriela Hearst opened a pop-up store in Colorado Ski Resort, joining luxury stalwarts Prada, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga, as well as new stores AspenX, Loro Piana Interiors and Citizens of Humanity.
The New York designer takes up residence space at MAX, Max Martinez’s local specialty retail store on Hopkins Avenue, which stocks Bottega Veneta, Celine, Loewe, Dries van Noten and more.
The residence will be open until March 31, 2022.
“I’ve had a feeling for a while that Aspen is a place we wanted to explore, and we have a great friend, Max, who has a space we were able to transform with salvaged sequoias and pieces that our collaborators Antoine Dumas and Benji Gavron created specifically for this project, ”said Hearst, whose work is guided by respect for nature and a passion for making fashion more sustainable by using non-virgin and recycled materials.
“Working with Gabi and the GH team has been a truly amazing experience. Gabi has given us complete creative freedom only on the condition of working with reclaimed wood, which neither of us had really done before. . We discovered that you can’t manipulate old wood into what you want with it, it just doesn’t allow you to. The creative process became a conversation between our aesthetic and what the wood would allow us to do. The pieces for the GH store in Aspen became that dialogue, highlighting the beauty of the material’s wear and tear with simple, crisp, clean lines that speak for themselves, ”collaborating designers Gavron and Dumas said in a statement. .
The store will feature pieces from Hearst’s women’s and men’s collections, including ready-to-wear, merino wool and cashmere knits, shoes, fine jewelry and home accessories. This will be the first time that a limited assortment of the handbag collection will be available in the Aspen area, specifically the Nina, Demi, Diana, Chapman and Off to the Races styles.
Hearst, who is Chloe’s artistic director in addition to running her namesake line, has flagship stores on the Upper East Side of New York and Mayfair in London.
