If there’s one product that we regularly steer clear of high-end, luxury options for drugstore purchases, it’s mascara, and Maybelline really is hard to beat.
So naturally, a new brand launch is one we’re always willing to deviate from our trusted daily staples to give a whirl. The latest offering, Colossal Curl Bounce Mascara, caused a stir online as consumers, bloggers and journalists all weigh in.
With an RRP of just £10.99, it promises to combine the effects of a mascara and an eyelash curler in one, for all-day clump-free wear. But does it deliver?
Well it’s won Good Housekeeping‘s Beauty Director Eve Cameron, a much sought-after seal of approval.
Eve told us; “With technology that mimics the effect of eyelash curlers and is inspired by the formulation of hairspray to ensure long-lasting hold, Colossal Curl is a very clever trick and has earned a place in my makeup bag.”
Adhesive Polymer, PVP, is the component the formula borrows from hairspray, used to aid in bonding, film formation and securing curl in place all day long. The high-tech memory curls formula also includes a lightweight, wax-free base, the first on the market, all delivered on the new Curl ‘n’ Bounce brush. A combination that, according to the brand, guarantees the absence of clumping, falling, flaking or smudging.
And it seems Eve agrees; “What makes a good mascara? Lift, curl, volume…all that and of course no smudging, clumping or flaking. I found Maybelline Colossal Curl Bounce Mascara, £10.99, ticks all the heels boxes of the wonderful Sky High brushed and curled mascara they launched last year).”
If you haven’t tried Sky High mascara yet, it went viral last year for its incredible results and Boots is currently offering 3 for 2 on select Maybelline products online (as of January 31, 2022). Why not try both and treat yourself to another little treat for free?

Another money saver, the Colossal Curl Bounce is reduced to just £8.75 on Look Fantastic.
Who can object to such a price?
