‘Project Runway’: Christian Siriano saves Shantall Lacayo from ‘unfair elimination’
While Shantall’s win didn’t come as a huge surprise to fans given her strong performance throughout the season, her run on the show was far from smooth. After nearly being eliminated in a challenge, Shantall managed to retain her position in the competition thanks to Christian Siriano’s coveted “Siriano Save” vote. Since then, Shantall has gone above and beyond to prove herself a force to be reckoned with by churning out stunning designs week after week.
For her latest collection, Shantall presented a wearable yet unique collection that drew inspiration from her Nicaraguan roots. Despite some last-minute setbacks such as the jackets she originally sewed that didn’t match the patterns perfectly, Shantall managed to deliver a stunning collection. The designer spent the last hours before the final show making alterations and polishing her collection.
Luckily, her hard work paid off as the judges noticed all the little details in her collection and were impressed with how she managed to manipulate the fabrics and put together such an intricate collection. They were particularly impressed by a black dress with a long jacket, the tailoring of which was acclaimed by all the judges. The judges certainly had a hard time picking a winner as all of the designers did an outstanding job, but they ultimately chose Shantall as they felt her collection had commercial appeal while giving off a couture vibe. We can’t wait to see how Shantall uses her “Project Runway” win to become the global brand she’s always dreamed of.
