Ralph accessorized the dress with a mini Kendrick trunk bag covered in mini sun crystals, also designed by Blackwood. It matched the coral hue of the inside of the dress, which was visible through her deep slit.

Ralph’s stylist, Roberto Johnson, channeled the bag’s glamor into his beauty look. She wore a dazzling braid created by Moira Frazier and iridescent coral nail polish.

The Blackwood brand displayed its excitement about the exhibit on Instagram. “We made our very first dress for an absolute icon! Thank you @thesherylleeralph for letting me and my team create this dress for you! A BB dress and bag on the #Major Emmy carpet,” wrote the Mark’s account in the comments of a photo of Ralph on the carpet.

Born in Brooklyn, the designer of Jamaican and Chinese origin spent his childhood between New York and Tokyo. Blackwood launched his first line of handbags in 2015 when he was still in his early 20s.

In 2020, to show solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, Blackwood launched a mini tote that read “END SYSTEMIC RACISM”. He donated the profits from the sale of the bag to local charities. The ESR tote, as it quickly became known, became an “it bag” on the internet. His star power continued to grow with his ever-popular Kendrick trunks and Kuei bags.

Blackwood has become a celebrity favorite. Kim Kardashian, Olivia Rodrigo, Megan Thee Stallion, Lala Anthony and Saweetie have all been spotted rocking her designs.
