A teacher from Devon found herself receiving a lesson from The Governess on tonight’s episode of The Chase.
Hollie, a 27-year-old primary school teacher from Exeter, was one of four contestants hoping to snatch some money from Anne Hegerty, one of the geniuses on the quiz on the hit ITV show.
However, for Hollie, who was looking to earn enough money to take out a mortgage and buy an expensive purse, the school bell rang with two questions to ask.
Facing the hunter while in the notorious seat four of the show which often features negative offers, she told show host Bradley Walsh before facing the cash builder her plans if she wins, saying, “I’m currently saving for a mortgage, which is the sane option. I also have my eye on a purse, the less sane one.

As Bradley laughed at her wish for a purse, she clarified, “A mulberry purse would be lovely.”
Bradley replied, “Forget Mulberry, you are in pursuit! You are not on Pointless, but on Chase! Come on Prada, or Louis Vuitton, dream big!
During the cash generation round, where contestants answer a series of one-minute questions to earn money to advance to the face-to-face round with the Chaser, Hollie won £ 3,000 after a few poorly answered questions which included “Shrewsbury hosts a festival in February named after which naturalist? To which she answered wrongly “Attenborough”, the correct answer being “Charles Darwin”.
After tonight’s pursuer Anne Hegerty arrived, Hollie received three offers representing different stages of the table, including minus £ 2,000 (where success would result in the team forfeiting that amount), the £ 3,000 that she won or £ 64,000, which would see her lead over the pursuer reduced a notch.
Hollie refused to accept the negative offer, sticking to her £ 3,000 after Anne greeted her saying: ” Well unfortunately your plans for a new bag are about to be dashed by an old bag “
Her dreams of a new purse or money for a mortgage were quickly dashed by the 63-year-old quiz genius with two steps to go, meaning she was knocked out with the question that sealed her destiny being “Janet Webb appeared at the end of shows featuring What a Comedy Duo to thank people for watching her ‘little show’ – responding to Little and Large when the correct answer was Morecambe and Wise.
Chaser liked her departure, who remarked upon leaving the show: “I am happy with this, because I have now got rid of the knowledge of the youth. His fellow competitors would be defeated by the Chaser.
Twitter reacted to her performance and her desire for a purse.
Richard Armstrong, sharing a photo of a Co-Op Cotton Bag for Life wrote: “Exclusive photo of Hollie and her handbag after this performance”.
JR Hartley’s chair criticized contestant Dave for telling her to stick with what she won when he accepted the low offer saying it was hypocrisy.
SocialMediaJon echoed her competitor’s criticism, writing, “Poor Hollie. At least she doesn’t have to make the final with Dave.”
Mr. Chambers offered his condolences to the young elementary school teacher, writing: “All of these questions were before Hollie’s time.”
LordGreystoke said: “I liked Hollie. Off to Pointless now she’s out.”
